Karma’s ‘Dreams and Dedication are a Powerful Combination’ is the final piece in this year long exhibition from the country’s finest street artists. Since Noone Casey donated their office door to Twelvdoors.com to use, abuse, deface and delight IrishStreetArt.com has been covering the regular installations. The street art collection also comprised of work by John Bowes, Konk, Able, Fink, Canvaz, Jeff Aerosol, ADW, Maser, Will Saint Leger and Sums. Ranging from hard hitting protest pieces and satirical political observations to colourful easy to digest works of art, Dublin‘s Dame Street Location has now firmly set its mark in the story of Street Art in Ireland.

In the last year or so, Limerick‘s Dock Road has been completely transformed. The long, drab, grey road had become a grave yard for petrol stations and the Celtic tiger did little in the way of architectural enhancement. However, thanks to a group of committed Limerick based graffiti artists, the city now has a new focal point in the most unlikely of places. From it’s modest beginning, Limerick‘s beautiful graffiti spot now is decorated with the letters of Ireland’s leading graffiti writers. Long may it last!

Installment number 11 at ‘12 doors‘ comes from Sums. Sums, originally from Drogheda now residing in Dublin, has been actively part of the Graffiti scene since 1989 having played a major part in the growth of Graffiti here in Ireland.
He also been co-organizer with ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ aka ‘The Bridge Jam‘ festival for the last 15 years, which is one if not the longest running graffiti festival in Europe if not the world. He has played a vital role in increasing awareness around the globe of the Irish Graffiti art scene.He has exhibited work in Ireland, England, Scotland, Sweden, Denmark, New York and as far way as Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide – Australia.
Today, Sums works for the leading post production facility in Dublin as a Flame Operator, composting special effects for commercials and film. He along side fellow artists run TDA KLANN, Ireland‘s longest running graffiti crew. TDA KLANN have been pioneers in producing some of the largest scale outdoor murals ever seen in Ireland. This year alone has seen Sums travel to Melbourne, Copenhagen, Scotland, New York in a bid to promote Irish graffiti and TDA KLANN.

Secret Wars Euro League, Dublin v’s Copenhagen, is taking place in The Bernard Shaw on firday the 5th of March at 8pm. The Irish team include Danleo, Mick Minogue, Cisto, Redmonk and Grim. Dublin has been drawn in group 3 with Barcelona, Southampton, Copenhagen and Paris. Each Graffiti battle takes place home and away, it’s a tough group so they’ll really need the support in Dublin. Originals at the Twisted Pepper 28 January 2010

Originals, the exhibition shows the work of two Irish artists, Morgan & Eimear-Jean McCormack and is produced and curated by Natalie Winterlich & Shane O’ Donoghue. The art exhibition will take place at The Twisted Pepper, 54 Middle Abbey St., Dublin 2 from the 30th January (opening party at 9pm) to the 28th February. Originals is a chance to see some super graphic art to kill off those January blues!
Morgan is one of Irelands most innovative artists, based in Dublin. His distinctive form of art is inspired by his everyday environment and the people he meets along the way, as well as being influenced by the escapism of film, his work is primarily in acrylic on canvas, although he also creates digital prints mixing traditional photography techniques with illustrations as well as mixed media works combining digital prints on canvas. Morgan has recently had a selection of his work touring the US. Expect a clean graffiti influenced style with stories running through the pieces.
Eimear-Jean McCormack is from Cork and is a printmaker. She manages to create urban and atmospheric scenes using lines and colour very sparingly, the end result being quite simple throughout. She holds an MA in Fine Art Printmaking from The University of The Arts, London. She has exhibited widely in Ireland as well as New York, London, France and China.

All Out Design Gallery Opening, Limerick 25 January 2010

By all accounts the opening, last thursday, of the All Out Design Gallery went extremely well with over 300 people attending with a full DJ set by Mark and Roland from LIT Dj society.
The former O’Sullivan’s Shoes premises has been transformed into a new creative venue in the heart of Limerick city. The space plays host to a graphic design studio, a gallery and graffiti classes, which will commence on the 31st of January. All Out Design are also available to produce commissioned work and murals.
The next event will be an open submission show entitled ‘Time To Get Up’ it will open 25th February. Submissions will cost €3 and submission closing date is 20th February. To submit work email alloutdesign@gmail.com

Twelve Doors by Maser & Damien Dempsey 25 January 2010

The final Twelve Doors instalation of 2009 ‘Love Yourself Today’ came from Dubliners, Maser and Damien Dempsey and is described as ‘for the people of Dublin, about Dublin, in Dublin.’
‘The majority of street art only addresses the ‘headline issues’, depicting the negative aspects about our society and governments. I want to address some of these issues but communicate them in a positive manner.’ This piece is the 2nd of 24 that will be painted in Dublin over the next few months. All pieces will be on-line in the New Year on Damien Dempsey’s site. The visual inspiration for this project comes from the old hand painted sign writing in Dublin City, the sort you can still see on sides of pubs, chemists, hardware stores etc.
