Where we stayed in Sicily’s capital seemed more local than even a small Irish village, everyone knew everyone, the families and neighbours did everything together and there wasn’t a street corner without a gaggle of gossiping pensioners. During the day the streets were buzzing. Not many appeared to have work. Most sat at cafes and on deck chairs set out on the footpaths in front of their houses, forcing us to share the streets with the most manic drivers in Europe. The night wasn’t much different, less traffic but the streets just as lively. With streets as busy as this it’s hard to imagine how any street artist could throw up a stencil or piece without being accosted by an agitated local. The featured pieces were obviously put up by some very dedicated artists
