After Eoin’s first live painting event at Make A Move in Limerick on the 7th July the Lahinch based street artist went on a trip around Ireland leaving a trail of pieces in his wake.

Eoin told IrishStreetArt.com “Working alongside some super talented artists that have been in this game for a long time now was amazing! The stories from the beginnings of graffiti in Ireland to the opportunities that their crafts have brought them and the growing inclusion of street art and graffiti by communities around the country.”

In Bantry, following a visit by Phlegm, the town was all talk about street art. “I had the opportunity to try out something I’d never even thought of attempting before with my limited knowledge of spraying, a large scale photorealistic piece entitled ‘Hope’. The response to the work within the community was amazing and it has opened up a whole new area of my art that I have had in mind for a long time – I cant wait to see where it takes me now!”

Eoin is traveling around Australia and Hawaii over the winter to leave his mark behind, “I have one more giant piece that I am waiting for final approval for before I leave for the winter, fingers crossed it gets the green light, its ridiculously big!!”

Since his last show at KT Contemporary in Dublin, danleo have spent most of the year in Canada painting walls and taking part in small shows, while also occasionally drifting south into the states. IrishStreetArt.com cought up with danleo to find out how everything is going acorss the pond.

‘I went on a massive road trip recently with some seriously great artists all the way from Detroit to Austin TX for the infamous South By Southwest Festival where we completed a large mural for Chevrolet, took part in a few secret walls comps as well as stopping of in many places along the way to meet artists and paint some walls.

danleo is now concentrating on a show in Vancouver. ‘It’s with two Canadian artists that I am so excited to work with as well as learning the toy making process. Soon I will be dropping some nice 3d work that will be available on from the shop on my site. When that is all done I will be making my way back to Ireland and the UK to hopefully get some big overdue projects done…’

Cork street artist, Conor Harrington was in the South of Italy recently to take part in the Fame Festival. ‘Fame’ is the Italian for hunger but Conor joked that he spent most of his time eating there.

The beautiful painting above is a called ‘Dead Meat’. On this ‘black and white biggie’ he tells us ‘I’m not sure how long this will last as we had no permission to paint it. Someone even called the police but Angelino sweet-talked them into allowing us finish, but I guess the fact that it’s on a kiddie school and I painted 2 nude women could be a bit of a problem…’ For a more complete account of Conor‘s work at the Fame Festival visit his blog, ConorSaysBoom.

Evan Roth

This weekend the Science Gallery at Trinity College, Dublin will play host to renowned art researcher, Evan Roth. The Propulsion Paintings Workshop will look at spray paint from a new perspective, exploring its potential uses as a propulsion device. Graffiti writers have long ‘hacked’ spray paint cans, altering their original purpose to leave their mark in public spaces and on public transport, creating art around the city.

In this two-day workshop with Hack The City, artist Evan Roth who founded the Graffiti Research Lab, you will hack spray paint in your own way. You will conceive, build, deploy and document new Propulsion Paintings – your own series of sculptures and video documentation based on modified cans of spray paint. You will be provided with a can of spray paint (along with some basic hardware) and will create kinetic sculptures designed to exist within the city.

Evan Roth is an artist and researcher based in Paris; some of his notable projects include L.A.S.E.R. Tag and LED Throwies (Graffiti Research Lab). Roth’s work is in the permanent collection of MoMA (NYC) and has been exhibited widely in the Americas, Europe and Asia and the front page of YouTube. Roth is co-founder of the Graffiti Research Lab and the Free Art & Technology Lab, a web based, open source research and development lab.

The workshops will take place on Saturday, June 16th from noon and Sunday, June 17, from 6.
